About Permaculture UK

Welcome to the new, and hopefully improved, Permaculture UK Forum. This site has been established since 2004, although for much of this time it hasn't been very active. It's a potentially valuable resource for the UK Permaculture Community, so over the next few months an effort will be made to promote it to make it an active and vibrant place.

This site is independent of the Permaculture Association (Britain), but we are working together to establish connections between the sites so it is easy to use them together. There have been discussions about incorporating it into the new PAB web site (due to be launched very soon), but for various technical reasons we have agreed to keep it separate.

Changes

Updated software to latest version of phpBB. The new version has a slightly different appearance, and some new features, but using it is basically the same as the old one. See the FAQ page for information.

Now has it's own domain name, www.permacultureforum.org.uk. Please update your bookmarks and any links you have on your web site. The old address will work for the foreseeable future, but will disappear at some time.

RSS feature added. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a way to be informed of the latest postings to this site:
 - You can add it to your web browser so you don't need to visit the site to see what's new.
 - Add a live feed to your web site, so your visitors can see what's new.
 - Lots of other ways to be kept updated if you're familiar with RSS.

The content of the site hasn't changed. All postings and users have been transferred from the previous version.

The forum headings and categories will be changed at some point, although no postings will be lost. This will be done in co-operation with the Permaculture Association, to try to make it consistent with the categories used on the new PAB web site.

A Make a Donation button has been added. Please go to the Donate page to read about the reason, and to contribute if you wish.

The Future

Permaculture UK will only be a success if it is wanted and well used. If you've been here in the past and not posted anything, please make the effort to post something. Success breeds success, and if everyone makes the effort we will all benefit from it. If it's not used there will come a time when I can't justify spending the time on it. If you don't use it, you'll lose it .
